taylor saulters who was a rookiecop in the athens clarke county police department was fired on saturday for running someone over on his car however he was hired monday in a neighboring sheriff’s department and fully supported for that action. you may not have seen this before but we do have video of the event that occurred and it was played out a few different ways in the media following but i think you should take a look. before you do, just a warning it is a typical graphic video to watch. oh my god! stop! put your hands behind your back! give me your hands! give me your hands! you can’t hit that man! oh my god! as a follow-up to this, we did hear him say, we got him in the video but we have a follow-up as to what he had to say about this incident afterward. i got him with my car, that is what they are yelling about. i didn’t hit him with the car, i blocked him with the car. he is fine. he hit the ground, but i mean, he was running down, behind at fairview, he was running this way and i came this way and he ran into the hood of my car. i blew my tire on the curb right there. i hit it as soon as, as long as you and make an overt movement to strike him you will be fine duck. i did it to try to go in front of them. where is it dented? there’s a dent right there.
i might have hit that stop sign. i think i hit the stop sign. no, he was running on the curb right there and i tried to block him and that is where i busted my tire and i guess it threw me into the stop sign. these two videos paint different stories. we see him hit a person with this car and then we hear him say i was blocking him, i hit a stop sign. that seems like lying to me and enough to maybe not have you on the fourth that as i mentioned earlier, taylor saulters who is the rookie cop in the video was removed from his job but then was picked up by the oglethorpe county sheriff’s office just a couple of days later. how could this happen, could it have something to do with the fact that his father is the police captain and head of the criminal investigation division? we also have another sheriff we spoke about this and spoke about wanting to hire him, sheriff david gabriel who said: he also spoke on the incident saying, describing what taylor did in the video: there seems to be some lapses in the truth here. everyone sees the video, he intentionally ran over someone, luckily he didn’t die from that incident and then immediately after says i got him or we got him and he gets fired on the saturday i believe and gets hired that following monday. he’s got these connections within the police department. it is nepotism. he should not be hired as a police officer after doing that, after lying about it, after being caught on camera lying about it. what is the state of the people in that county. to not trust the cops. do not trust leadership within the department that just hired him and then people wonder, why do people run away from the cops that they haven’t than anything wrong? i would be terrified. they can do whatever is your plan and they will back into some story that everybody will support.
i will say this and this is how screwed up it is now. as i watched that video all i am thinking is, where is the part with a shoe him? because that is what we are used too. i’m just sitting there going all my god, this is awfully have to watch them shoot this guy. he is running from the cops, i get it, but he was a suspect out when he just gets hit by the car i’m thinking wow, this is extraordinary but again, it was enough for him to be terminated from the force and then in some kind of, it somewhat like one of those movies. my daddy is a sheriff in the next town over. they didn’t even wait for an official investigation. exactly. the argument that you will hear from people who want to make excuses for the cops is it was a suspect, someone who is suspected of a crime. that is fine but anyone could be suspected of a crime. there have been cases where people are suspected of a crime into an investigation that person is found to be innocent. there is also this crazy idea that even if someone is suspected of a crime and even if that person committed the crime, the cops don’t have the right to kill them themselves. that is an extrajudicial killing and that is supposed to be unconstitutional and unlawful in the united states so if you are in favor of that then you do not support all in order in the country. you just plot out don’t believe in it because it goes against the law. the other thing i would say, if you are in support of law enforcement as i am and i think most of our us are, this is my point, a lot of those who serve, most who serve hate seeing this because it looks bad on their department and all of law-enforcement. most cops out there aren’t doing this crap. it is awful to see this kind of thing and more and more, it just smears the reputation of guys who are trying to make a difference out there.
we see stories like this and we talk about what actually happens and then people say why are you so in psychotic? that is not the case, this is something that was wrong and that there is evidence that it was wrong. just like we are not against all people who are trying to be public servants in the government, but when there is government malfeasance of one sort or another we have to call it out. it’s an interesting criticism when you are trying to shed light on real injustice in the country or on anything. we do stories that are critical of journalists when they are not doing their jobs properly. designing where anti-journalists? for some reason it doesn’t apply to any other profession but look, i have come to realize, at first i was naœve because at first i thought when we would report on the stories and get the reaction that we went from some people, not all, it was just people who were in denial, they are not accepting what is really happening, they can’t believe it because it is so outrageous but then i realized, no, there is some portion of the country that likes this. they are supportive of what is happening. they know what is happening and they want to support it and they are pretending like they don’t know, so that is a real issue. i do not know if it is a silver lining by i think the trump administration has really made that thought process and that ideology transparent and more obvious and i think now that we know that it is there, what are we going to do to find solutions to it because we cannot have a police state and by the way, obviously guess, it disproportionately impacts the poor and powerless and the black community, but everyone has to some extent felt the impact of this type of brutality and it will only continue to get worse if we turn a blind eye to pretend like it does not happen and then pay everyone who wants to shed a lie as anti-cop, that is absolutely ridiculous. at this point in the culture and the society, this is where we have to ride heard over law enforcement and government because everything from this kind of thing which is obvious because you can see on a body cam and a dash cam to civil forfeiture where they take your assets because you have been arrested but not convicted of anything, these are things that are associated with government and law-enforcement overreach and this is a time to ride herd over those more than ever.
