Government Grants for Women

Government grants for women are much easier to find than that of their male counterparts. Women are under represented in colleges, careers and other responsible categories, despite the fact that 51% of the population is women.

Government grants for women starting a youth community service project

Government grants for women are much easier to find than that of their male counterparts. Women are under represented in colleges, careers and other responsible categories, despite the fact that 51% of the population is women. Women perform a multifaceted role where they have to take care of their children, their home, go to college or work, whatever the case may be. A woman has to be strong enough to carry out all the duties that are expected of her as a wife, a mom, a career woman etc etc. In recognition of the capabilities of a woman, and with the idea of empowering women, the Federal government has set up many grants for women to benefit through several avenues including education and careers.

Federal government grants for women are provided for non profit, tax exempt organizations, which work for the betterment of the society. A youth community service project will certainly benefit society and to set up such a project, the first thing that should be done is write a Mission Statement which will indicate the purpose of the organization and who will benefit from the organization. This is your one liner tool to strategically market your organization.

To make an application for a grant, you will need to write up a project proposal stating the purpose for which the project is being formulated, who is going to benefit and for all this to work, list out the components which will combine the overall project.

There are several stereo type youth community service projects. While any contribution towards society is acknowledged and appreciated, it is always better to think out of the box and start something innovative where the youth can benefit. They are our future. The purpose of the project is not to attract funds, but to serve the youth in a beneficial way and for that you need financial assistance.

When you break the project into components, while you will be able to attract overall grants for the project, the possibilities are high that you will be able to attract component specific grants.

Some good examples would be the following grants awarded by different government institutions for a specific purpose:

Mix it Up Grants awarded by the Southern Poverty Law Center

USDA Rural Youth Development award awarded by the Department of Agriculture

PeaceChild International Grants for youth-led community projects

SAGE-Youth Venture Grant

Red, white green Climate Change grant

SAGE Youth Venture Grants

YSA Youth Venture Grants which provide start-up expenses up to $1,000.

and many more grants all contributing to youth community service projects.

When setting up a youth community service project, it might be better for several women to be on the committee or board, as government grants for women will not only focus on the beneficiaries but also on the management team. If there are several women in the administration,  grant viewers will be more convinced that this project has a better chance for success than if it has only one woman to manage the project which can become a high risk or failure.

When requesting government grants for women you need to sell your project to a grant approver who knows nothing about you nor your capabilities, and therefore not only should you present the project well, also provide good references to establish your credentials

Government grants are available for women to set up youth community service projects that will help all cross sections of the society.
