6. Sociology: This is financial aid awarded to applicants according to their race, national origin or religion. After narrowing the governing factors such as ethnicity, additional factors are also taken into consideration either on need base or merit base types. Students with special needs and disabilities are also included in this type.
7. Institutional: There are grants which are awarded by the state through the college or university where the student has enrolled.
Along with these general grants, there are additional government grants for minority provided by the federal government to the minority groups as they are under represented in colleges. This has brought about a much better enrollment percentage in colleges.
Along with education, the other dreams you will naturally have is a nice home especially if you belong a minority group that is living below poverty and is immensely financially disadvantaged. Some of these housing is situated in high risk areas and the federal government in an endeavor to curb violence and drugs which is rampant in such neighborhoods is providing housing assistance at subsidized rates which will be affordable once you have your college degree and you have got your career going.
When the two most important dreams have been realized, other dreams will become more a reality for minority groups. |
