Dr. Syamack Ganjavian is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Tooth Whitening.


Q. What is tooth whitening?


A. The process of using oxidizing agents to bleach the tooth structure

Q. Who may benefit from teeth whitening? 

A. Anyone older than 16 years

Q. Who are not recommended to undergo teeth whitening? 


A. Anyone who has sensitive teeth, allergy to bleaching agents, dental decay or severely fractured teeth

Q. What does tooth whitening involve?

A. Applying the bleaching agent usually in the gel form to the 6 or 8 teeth in the front

Q. How long does this take?

A. Depending on the concentration of the active ingredient it can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour at a time

Q. How much does tooth whitening cost?

A. Home whitening: $300 (free for all of our new patients when they get cleaning and check up exam).  1 hour in-office whitening: $500

Q. What are the side effects? 


A. The side effects are usually short lived, but in general teeth become sensitive to cold and some people may also experience irritation of the gums.
