A.    For the most part, individuals with subjectively and objectively large breasts troubled by the size and likewise troubled by the symptoms as back, neck and shoulder difficulties.


Q.    What are the benefits of breast reduction surgery?


A.    The benefits would be symptom relief, typically improvement in shape, contour, and ability to find appropriate clothes without the stigmata of large breasts.  Likewise, improvement in physical activities and general well being.


Q.    What are the risks involved of breast reduction surgery?


A.    Scars, infection, asymmetry, healing difficulties, need for secondary procedures and failure to obtain symptom relief.


Q.    What does breast reduction surgery involve?


A.    Removing breast tissue and fat to reduce breast volume/size and typically lifting the nipple and areola to a higher and more youthful level.


Q.    What should one expect after breast reduction surgery?


A.    Relief of upper back and neck symptoms, improvement in breast shape, and ability to more easily find appropriately sized clothing.


Q.    How much does a breast reduction cost?


A.    It can be covered by insurance, but if done outside insurance can range from $6,500-$8,000.
