An Interview with Dr. Colin Gibson on Braces

Dr. Colin Gibson is an orthodontist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Braces.

Q. Can one be too old for braces?

A. No one is too old for braces. We have patients in our practice in their 60’s and 70’s!

Q. How much do braces cost?

A. Orthodontic treatment has a range of prices, depending on the type of treatment you want or is recommended. We offer to meet or beat the price of any other orthodontic office in Denver. Go to our website at www.1stimpressionsortho.com to find even more money saving coupons.

Q. When will one begin to see changes in his/her teeth after the braces are put on?

A. Changes in the beauty of your smile will happen within the first few weeks of your orthodontic treatment. Patients can’t believe that their teeth are moving right before their eyes.

Q. Will one need to have teeth extracted for braces?

A. Only 15% of people need to have teeth extracted before or during their orthodontic treatment. Extraction treatment is only for those patients with severe crowding or impacted teeth.

Q. How long will it take to complete the treatment?

A. Orthodontic treatment can last anywhere from 3 months to 20 months, depending on the difficulty of the case.

Q. Can a person wear braces even though that person may have crowns and missing teeth?

A. Braces can be applied to almost anyone’s teeth. Those with crowns and missing teeth often benefit from braces the most. Braces help your general dentist replace the missing teeth properly, so that your smile looks the best it can after all dental treatment is completed.

Q. How can I prevent my child from being embarrassed by wearing braces?

A. Most children in this day and age love their braces. Many children in our office beg their parents for braces...even before I recommend any treatment! Braces are a type of status symbol among children ages 7-15 years of age. If your child does not like the idea of having traditional braces, we offer clear braces and clear aligners to these patients.

Q. How to contact Dr. Gibson if we have further questions?
