ShopRite Supermarkets is a classic example of a successful retailers’ cooperative supermarkets chain in the Northeastern U.S. Based out of Elizabeth, New Jersey, the cooperative operates 46 individually owned and operated affiliates with 217 stores. The cooperative believes in family oriented manner of customer service and takes care of the customers’ needs at a personalized level.

In recent years, ShopRite stores have got a newer look or seen expansion and re-building the entire store in some cases. Now the stores are larger in size and offer improved facilities to the customers. Most of the stores are still family owned, with third or fourth generations of families managing the stores in some cases.
