Hilander Foods chain of grocery stores is based out of the metro area of Rockford, Illinois. In 1998, the chain was taken over by the Kroger Co. and now all the stores are operated under the Kroger management only. In 2006, there were a total number of 7 Hilander stores, including 5 in Rockford and one each in the nearby suburbs of Cherry Valley and Roscoe.
