An Interview with Dr. Andrey Mazo on Invisalign

Dr. Andrey Mazo is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Invisalign.

Q. What is an invisalign?

A. Invisalign - is very popular orthodontic treatment which allows patients to improve their bite and smile without wearing actual metal braces. Clear invisible custom trays are worn instead. Trays could be easily removed for cleaning. Not everybody is a perfect candidate; prior consultation with the doctor is required. Our Office doesn’t charge for such consult.

Q. How does invisalign work?

A. Teeth are being moved by the pressure points located inside of the above mentioned trays. Set of trays is usually good for 2 weeks and new set then is inserted, a lot of times by the patient at home. Patients must wear the trays all the time and just remove them for eating. Doctor monitors the treatment progress periodically. Most of the time retainers are required after the treatment to maintain the desired result.

Q. What are the primary benefits of invisalign?

A. The biggest benefit is lack of metal. People don’t like to show any kind of metal on their teeth when they smile or talk. Another advantage is a possibility to remove the trays for important speech or other similar very short term situations, even though patients usually have no trouble talking with trays in their mouth.

Q. How long does invisalign treatment take?

A. It really depends on a case. It can range anywhere from 7-8 months to 1,5 years.

Q. How much does invisalign cost?

A. The costs depends on a provider and even more so on a complexity and duration of the treatment , but typically in Massachusetts prices vary from as low as $ 2500 for very simple case to $ 8000 for extremely complex situation.

Q. Who uses invisalign?

A. Invisalign could be used by any patient whose condition is deemed appropriate for such treatment by both the doctor and Align Technologies (the manufacturer and patent holder of Invisalign). Since it requires some discipline and presence of adult teeth to be moved, children are usually not good candidates, but there are exceptions.

Q. Are there certain dental conditions that automatically exclude someone from being an eligible patient?

A. Besides young age, there could be situations when patient already misses a lot of teeth or when the bite is so complex that conventional orthodontics would be preferred

Q. How to contact Dr. Mazo if we have further questions?

A. Our office phone number is 617-924 -9993 and our e-mail is alldentalcenter@hotmail.com
