An Interview with Dr. Carrie Clarkson on Porcelain Veneers
Dr. Carrie Clarkson is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Porcelain Veneers.
Q. What are porcelain veneers?
A. Veneers are thin, custom-made facings crafted from tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front side of teeth. They are usually used to improve the shape or color of teeth. Many types of veneers can be made without removing any natural tooth structure, so you don’t need to get numb.
Q. How long do dental veneers last?
A. With the proper care and maintenance veneers can last for several years. We have patients who have had their veneers for over 20 years
Q. Do dental veneers require special care?
A. Like all dental restorations, caring for your veneers means brushing and flossing regularly, avoiding excessive force or stress on the teeth, and seeing your dentist for maintenance visits and cleaning appointments.
Q. Are there alternatives to dental veneers?
A. Full coverage crowns or white colored bonding are alternatives to veneers.
Q. Do Veneers look natural?
A. Yes, veneers are often a beautiful way to enhance your smile.
Q. Does the veneer protect one’s tooth from decay?
A. Like other dental restorations, you can still get decay around a veneer and on the parts of the tooth that the veneer doesn’t cover. But, with good oral hygiene and regular dental visits this is rare.
Q. What does a veneer cost?
A. A veneer costs about the same as a crown
Q. How to contact Dr. Clarkson if we have further questions?
A.
