Airplane Travel Tips

Travel by air has increased at a rapid rate over the years and is now the most common mode of travel between countries and even between states and cities. Traveling can be hectic and stressful, but what would every traveler desire? Peace of mind for sure. Detailed below are some tips for stress free airline travel.

Early planning and preparation is one vital factor for a hassle-free airline tour. In addition, following the airline policies and regulations is also a must. You can never always be prepared for the unexpected delays. Therefore, following the suggestions and ideas mentioned below would help relish and enjoy your travel time.

Be there at the airport at least four hours before your departure time. To avoid traffic jams and travel time on road, leave home early. Always add additional time during peak travel periods. The usual and most common guideline is an hour on domestic flights and a couple on international flights.

Arriving at the airport early would buy you enough time to grab some snacks, reading material and go through the airport security checks. Having a printout of your own boarding pass (which can be obtained from the airline website) would help you go through the departures area in relatively less time.

Have your luggage tags on the bags and make sure that the old travel stickers and tags are removed to avoid confusion. One fine trick adopted by most travelers is to have identical colored ribbons tied into the luggage handles for the ease of identification. Try that out!

With respect to your luggage, beware of the airline weight restrictions. Different airlines have different stipulations and regulations. Therefore, make sure that your luggage are not overweight, since overweight luggage would cost extra charges related to baggage handling and would also delay you getting to the gate.

Every traveler is entitled to take a maximum of two discount (big) luggage and one hand luggage. The big luggage can generally weigh 50-60 pounds (this could change from country to country; airline to airline). If the luggage are overweight, the officials will request that the extra be charged or else be left at the airport. To avoid this disappointment, weigh the luggage in advance and make sure that it weighs at least two pounds less than the stipulated weight.

Pack your luggage neatly. Use packing cubes which will enable smooth and organized packing your belongings. If the security officials choose to go through your luggage, a neatly packed one would prove useful since it would enable easy repacking after the checking. Refrain from taking liquids or any other fluids since they are restricted on board, and don’t forget to unwrap gifts or any other wrapped items.

Do not carry too many (other) personal bags in addition to the hand luggage, since it can be a burden to you as well as other travelers. Just as in your large discount luggage, make sure the hand luggage is not overstuffed since the possibility of being held up at check points is high due to the security reasons. Do not have penknives, scissors or any other sharp objects in your hand luggage since it is prohibited by law. Keep the hand luggage neatly packed. When you are to go through security, be prepared to take off your coat, shoes, and belts with buckles.

Have travel wallets or pouches to hold all necessary and important travel documents in place. This would prevent the risk of those documents getting lost and would also reduce search time, when you are asked to produce them. One final thing that you should keep in mind is that never ever take the responsibility of looking after another’s luggage since there may be illegal content that would put you in great trouble.

If you follow all these tips, there is no doubt that you are going to have a stress-free, joyful flight. Good luck and have a safe journey!
