Q. Who would be a good candidate for hair transplant surgery?
A. Any woman or man, older than 25, with hair loss on the scalp or missing eyelashes or eyebrows is a candidate.
Q. What can be done for people dissatisfied with previous mini/micrograft procedures?
A. A second transplant can be done to either fill in areas of baldness or to remove old "plugs" and use them as follicular grafts giving an inconspicuous and natural result.
Q. What are the possible harmful effects of Propecia and Rogaine?
A. Propecia can cause birth defects in women of child-bearing age if they take it or handle it. Rogaine can cause redness and irritation at the site of placement and unwanted facial hair growth.
Q. How many grafts/hairs are needed for hair transplant surgery?
A. This depends on the amount of hair loss and the amount of hair available to donate from the back of the scalp. Typically, patients get anywhere from 1,000 to 2,500 grafts per session.
Q. What are the advanced hair transplant techniques?
A. For hair, the grafts are now divided up under a microscope and placed individually. This is 180 degrees from the old plugs (25-30 hairs per plug vs. 1-4 hairs per graft) that used to be placed.
For eyebrows and eyelashes, the same thing is done giving an unbelievable result that is very natural looking. Here, grafts with a single hair follicle are placed on-by-one.
Q. What are the new hair restoration treatments available for men and women?
A. Micrograft hair, eyebrow, and eyelash transplants |
