Q. What are porcelain veneers?

A. Veneers are facings that are bonded to the tooth. There may be no or slight preparation of the tooth.

Q. How long to dental veneers last?

A. Veneers last between 5 and 15 yrs. But the better you take care of them the longer they last.

Q. Do dental veneers require special care?

A. Veneers should be cared for as you would your teeth. Brush 2x aday and floss 1x aday. Also, be carefull biting into hard things...as you should with your own teeth.


Q. Are there alternatives to dental veneers?

 

A. The alternate to porcelain veneers are, plastic veneers, bonding or crown (cap).

Q. Do Veneers look natural?

 

A. Porcelain veneers look very natural. More so than bonding. There is a depth to their look.

Q. Does the veneer protect one’s tooth from decay?

A. The veneers can help prevent decay on the surface they cover, but care must be taken around the margins to prevent decay starting there...good oral hygiene!

Q. What does a veneer cost?

 

A. The cost of veneers can vary. The time and expense are the same as a crown (cap), so the cost is very similar....around $950.00.
