Get some advice and studying tips before entering college so that you can make the best of the college experience. College life is about making new friends and having a good time when studying is taken care of.

Unlike high school' campus offers a wide variety of academic opportunities. To gain maximum advantage of these opportunities students should know how to find and utilize them.

1. Choosing a college major.

Some people know what they want to be for as long as they can remember' some figure it out along the away and yet others have difficulty trying to decide which path to pursue. Before choosing your major ask yourself these questions; what am I good at? What do I love to do? How do I see myself 20 years into the future? And what skills do I need to learn to succeed in my chosen path? Also it is important to consider other factors that might affect your choice' for example family values' financial obligations and cultural expectations.

2. Picking your classes

After you have decided on your major you need to give some thought into picking good courses. Campuses offer a wide variety of courses you can choose from. Picking the right classes in the right order will determine your success. Most campuses have advisors; talk to them and ask for advice. You can also talk to senior students in the same field and get a student's perspective. While picking classes be realistic about your limitations. Don't take on more than your can handle. Also aim to pick strong professors. Senior students can give you some insight.

3. Transfers

It is common for students to transfer from one major to another or choose to transfer to a different school. Transfers occur for many reasons. Some students may want to change their major but continue to study with the same college. Others may want to change colleges for academic' financial' personal or social reasons. Whatever you choose to do academics is the most important thing about your college career. So you should choose a school that challenges you intellectually' provides you with the course of study you want and provides you with a support system.

4. Master your time management skills

Scrambling to meet deadlines is one of the nasty surprises that hit most new campus students. In the first few days you will learn that college is nothing like high school' the work load is enormous. With so much to do' mastering you time management skills will be an essential.

5. Interact with your professors

Lectures are the key to academic success. So it is important to go to every lecture. It's not enough to merely attend lectures absent-mindedly; you must engage in discussions and ask questions. Make sure you turn in your assignments on time without always asking for extensions. This crates a bad impression on your lecturers. If you need help with your homework or research paper you can go to your professors after class hours and ask for help. Don't be intimidated by your professor' most professors are accessible and only glad to help.
