Social pressure on teens
Teenage years are a critical age in human life. This is the age close to the entrance of adulthood. The parents expect teenagers to be as obedient as they were in their childhood and behave the way they used to in their own teenage years. Unfortunately' this never happens as times change and social norms change over the years. Many adults view the behavior of teenagers as unsuitable for society. Thus' the conflicts start between adults and teenagers. This is commonly referred to as ‘the generation gap'.

The major conflict in society between teens and adults is the dress code of teens. In most countries' teenagers prefer to wear exhibitive clothes to get prominence among the same aged groups. The clothes cannot expect to be decent' matching or suitable for the occasion. Some of them prefer torn clothes' un-matching colors' or hip styles. They try to wear these to occasions such as family parties or funerals. This would cause criticism from society. There could be instances where the parents get criticized for poor child rearing. But this is very common among teen children. This is the reason they prefer to get away from family gatherings' but show inclination to same age group parties.

Accessories teens wear is also something highly criticized by adults. In some countries' it is a tradition to wear earrings' rings and bangles for males to depict social ranks. As an example' there are Indian sects who wear accessories such as earrings' bangles' and necklaces. But some countries believe these are specific to females. Thus' the new fashions are highly criticized by such societies' where both girls and boys wear earrings' bangles and rings' often with elaborate designs and loud colors.

Music is another aspect the teens are criticized on. They prefer music with fast beats. This is due to biological facts in their developing physique. They are full of energy and love to move to the rhythm. Nevertheless' they prefer to forget or ignore all other sounds around them and live in the world of music. They also like to listen to their music in very loud tones.

Teenagers are on the brink of entering the world of adults' which is full of ethics and norms. They are still at the experimenting stage. Their brains are adjusting and developing logical thinking and they are still learning the appropriates and none appropriates stated by society. Thus' they would ignore simplicity' silence' empathy or calmness' which are appreciated by society. Therefore' their parties and gatherings are full of noise.

Taking liquor or smoking cigarettes are also part of their experimenting stage' as their clothes and music. They imitate their adults. The criticism should not go to the teens hundred percent. The adults must look into these with a patient mind. Otherwise' they would carry on these practices into their adulthood. Advice should not be in insulting form or directed at their weak points. Adults must be friendly' indirect and empathetic when they want to advice the teens.

These behavior patterns would not last long. When they gradually reach their twenties' the behavioral changes would be prominent. They will tend to incline towards profession' marriage or higher studies. Thus' the experiments would fade away or tone down.
