Q. What is Breast Lifting?
A. Breast lifting or mastopexy is a procedure to correct sagging breasts. It is often done in combination with a breast augmentation but can be done alone. It requires removing excess breast skin and redraping the breast mound to give it better shape and make it perkier.
Q. How is breast lift surgery done?
A. The first measurement is to determine where the nipple andareola should be positioned in relation to the inframmary crease which is the bottom of the breast. Then the amount of excess skin is measured by gathering it and marking the redundant area with a marking pen. The top layer of the excess skin is removed and the breast tissue is then reshaped. The nipple and areola are brought up to the new position and sutured in place. I have a 3-D animation of this on my website
Q. What is the recovery period like?
A. 1-2 weeks
Q. Who is an ideal candidate for breast lift surgery?
A. Most women have either lost weight or their breasts have sagged after having children, regardless of whether they breast-fed. Patients are typically 30-45 years old
Q. Are there risks and complications to a breast lift surgery?
A. Any surgical procedure has risks including bleeding, infection, poor wound healing, widen scars, asymmetry of their breasts, and the possibility of sagging in the future
Q. How long do the results last?
A. Provided a woman maintains her weight, the breast lift should last over 10 years
Q. How much does breast lift surgery cost?
A. The surgical fee is anywhere between $3000 and $4500 and the outpatient center and anesthesia fees are approximately $2500
