About furniture

Bringing furniture into your home is one thing, but arranging it properly and creating a homely atmosphere is another challenge. There are some essential pieces of furniture that you need to have like a dining table and beds to sleep on. Think carefully before buying items that you may not actually need.

How to Arrange Your Furniture

Depending on the way you arrange your home you can either make it look crowded, spacious, cold or distant. You can arrange your furniture to bring out the positive aspects in a room to create a pleasant mood.

So if you’re redecorating or rearranging a new home or your exiting home, arrange your furniture in a way that it works best for you and your family.
Here are a few tips on how to arrange your furniture and create a warm and inviting atmosphere in a room.

Make a graph of your room

Use paper and draw the dimensions of the room. Clearly mark the doors, windows, staircases and entrance and exit. You should also mark the power outlets. Use measuring tape to measure the room and the furniture.

Placing the furniture in the room

• Clean the furniture and the room before moving the furniture.
• Use a thick rug or moving pads to move furniture around.
• Check for the power outlets first before moving electrical appliances.
• Before actually moving the furniture into the room, check the spaces of the room and draw the largest item on the graph and the other furniture that go with it.
• Plan your traffic route. Keep large furniture from obstructing the traffic route.
• Leave some space at the back of the dinning table chairs, as they need to be moved back to sit on, Avoid having the dinning table toward the wall as constant knocking of furniture can damage the walls.
• Have enough space for cupboards, so that the doors can be opened with a problem.
• Have some distance between the television and the couch you sit on. The distance should be more than 3 times the size of the televisions.
• Have sufficient lighting above the dinning area, reading areas and study areas.
• Have enough space around the bed.
• Make sure you have a lot of space and less furniture in toddlers play rooms.
• Create a balance in the room with tall and short furniture, with a mix of color and shades, lighting and rugs.
