Computer Programming and Software

Computers were first created as a machine to help humans to complete certain tasks. The early computer used a machine code of ones and zeros to do the programming. As time went on programming developed into human friendly languages which has helped programmers develop programs more easily and efficiently.

The computer which used machine code for writing programs was big and old. After machine code came a line of programming tools called assembly line coding. Assembly line coding involved using symbols to develop the code. This was somewhat easier than machine code which required typing ones and zeros. But like machine code it was very difficult to debug and track down errors in the code. This lead to the development of today's third generation line of programming which involves human friendly language to be used as code. This method made it easy to write code, debug it and track down errors in the code.

Software developing companies sprang up after the development of the personal computer. The requirements and the demands of the users of personal computers started to go higher and higher. Software companies were competing with each other to develop the best software's for personal use as well as for corporate use. Skilled programmers were sort after which resulted in creating major job opportunities for computer programmers. Programming software's like C, C++, Java and Visual Basic came up and programmers started to create programs which were better in quality, efficiency, reliability, flexibility and maintainability.

After the World Wide Web started to expand throughout the corporate world and then in the home user world, programmers were sort after to develop and maintain web sites. Programmers who were skilled in HTML, DHTML, XML, PHP and Java Script had major job opportunities in the corporate world. Then websites were linked with major corporate network systems which required the programmer to be multi-skilled.

All the software's that we are using now was developed by a programmer or a team of programmers. Most of the time when developing a big software project many programmers team up in order to finish the program. Say for example if a corporation requires a software system to manage all their day to day handlings then, a single programmer will not be able to do it. There are many skilled people who need to get involved. First the analysts will analyze the situation and report to the developers. Then the developers will develop a model based on the information given by the analysts. Then the programmers will write the actual code and implement the system.

So programming is not the easiest thing to do. A programmer requires a bundle of skill, dedication, commitment and patience. Programming is a thrilling experience and provides a great deal of job satisfaction, especially when a programmer sees the software he developed being used to make the life of another person easy.
