| Tips on clothing your child according to their age |
Children prefer colorful clothes and they like to imitate. As parents, we must not have too many restrictions. At the same time we should not allow them to wear any attire they prefer. There are ethics in the society that the child-clothes should be in an accepted range. As parents, we must also pay attention to the hygiene, climate, and suitability of the clothes to their ages and also to the cost of the clothes.
It is important to pay attention to the age of the child. A baby below one year should not be dressed in clothes of a child of four years. It would cause nothing but uneasiness. The dresses are used to cover the body. The parents must not forget this golden rule when they select clothes for the children. Otherwise the children will tend to select clothes forgetting this when they grow as adults.
The babies of age one to three months can wear unisex clothes suitable for them to spend more time on bed and horizontally. The cottons and other non-synthetic materials would cover their tiny bodies, to prevent cold, heat, insects and wetness. The clothes of this age should be very light. The colors are mostly white or any other very light colors. The buttons or zippers should not be attached to these garments and the fasteners should be made out of the same cloth. The buttons, frills and ribbons should be avoided for daily wear. The clothes should be always clean and dry before putting on to the baby.
The toddlers will normally want to walk or try other activities such as sitting, standing, crawling or running. Thus, the garments should be suitable for such activities. They should be light and can hang firmly to the body, but not tight. If the garment is too loose, the child may struggle with the clothes always slipping down from the body and he may be hindered in his activities.
The children of pre-school age prefer bright colors and prints. They are not interested in patterns. Then parents must provide them the clothes in which they are interested but suitable for the weather conditions. The mothers must not force them to wear long or uncomfortable heavy clothes since the pre-schoolers are very active and the clothes should support their activities. Some clothes are rejected, since the culture and society do not permit those. Nevertheless, the children need freedom to move and develop without barriers of clothes.
The children of formal school age must wear school uniforms. The parents must select hygienic clothes for the children, whatever the patterns may be. The accessories that the children prefer should not be restricted fully. Some accessories they are asking may not be suitable. These should be avoided through love and kindness. The parent is the best person who can select clothes suitable for his/her own child, but for a child who can understand the clothes that he/she wants must also be given due consideration.. |
