The toddlers should have light clothes as they start walking and running and also start new activities when they grow a little older. If the clothes are heavy or made out of synthetic material it will be uncomfortable for them. Thus, the children below five years should wear light garments which are made out of natural material. The caps, mittens, shoes and socks too should not be very heavy. The toddlers of cold countries can use socks and mittens made out of wool but, the children who live in the tropical climate should wear garments made out of cotton. Mittens and socks are not suitable for all the occasions. The under pants of both sexes of this age should be always in light fabric of linen, since they are spoilt and subject to change frequently.
Using nylon under garments for the children of this age for long periods is not hygienic. The cotton or any other natural fabrics should be used especially for under garments. The temperature and the lack of ventilation would breed fungus in areas covered by undergarments and would spread out to the other parts of the body. There could be black patches or blisters visible. Also avoid much frills, ribbons and hard elastics on the under garment (pants) of babies.
The night clothes should always be very light and suitable for the climate. If it is a warm climate, the cottons are the best for night garments. In the cold seasons, woolen but light material should be closer to the body. The frequent cleaning of the clothes that are used near the skin is very essential.
The outer dresses should not be heavy on toddlers. The toddlers are in a very playful age group. If the garments were heavy and tight, they would be lethargic to play with others. The clothes with hard elastic, piercing buttons and zippers should be avoided. The colors should be bright and with their favorites prints, such as animals, fruit, vehicles, and fairy tale characters.
Toddlers should be clothed in garments suitable for their age. The cost, fabric fashion and other social and cultural aspects too should be considered, when you select the clothes for them. However, the child should not look like a miniature adult but a real child.
The very small toddlers are not much of a problem since they wear the clothes given to them without selecting. Then, the parents can provide garments that are soft and appropriate for the weather. There are very expensive clothes, which are prepared out of silks and hard fabrics. These are not suitable for the tropical climate or summer time. The soft cotton garments in light colors are very much suitable for the toddling age. The cold countries demand more cozy clothes for small children since they like to play outside even in cold weather. The bonnets, mittens, woolen socks and leather shoes are suitable for these conditions. In warm weather conditions the mittens, bonnets and woolen socks should be avoided. |
