About classic movies

Classic movies are ones that stay popular throughout the years, even though times have changed. Some classic movies include Casablanca, Gone with the Wind and My Fair Lady. Some new classic movies include Sleepless in Seattle, the Godfather, Chariots of Fire, and the Green Mile.

Classic Movies You Should Not Miss

As you decide to sit down and relax with a movie, why not try a classical one which you are sure to love? Read on and find out about some wonderful Hollywood classics which have won the tests of time and the hearts of many.

Casablanca (1941)

This great love story has everything ranging from Nazis to a Bulgarian beauty and even a blue parrot! You will be taken away by the lovers, Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid, who are separated by duty. The lovers who are separated in France later reunite desperately in Casablanca just as the World War II catches fire.

Dr. Strangelove (1964)

A movie of 44 years, Dr. Strangelove is a shrewd attempt to put an end to the idea of winning a nuclear war. The movie revolves around the cold war and is grim and filled with suspense and is surprisingly funny too! A casual movie with a serious reminder that we've just barely escaped global destruction, and could still face one.

To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)

Based on the famous American novel, this great film is all about Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck), a lawyer from a small town who is trying to battle the evils of society. A moving film, To Kill a Mockingbird is another movie which will bring the fire to achieve all your dusty dreams!

Some Like it Hot (1959)

A great comedy with the sizzling Marilyn Monroe showcasing all her physical assets in some unimaginably skimpy outfits as she parades throughout the film like a dizzy blonde. What more Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis take you to the heights of humor as they pose as members of an all-girl orchestra in their attempt to hide from the mob! Humor can't be better than this.

Ben Hur (1959)

A historical movie with an overdose of swords and sandals and robes, Ben Hur is long (standing at three and a half hours of movie time) but gripping. The cinematography can't be described in words and the historical theme is at its best during the climax chariot race. The most expensive movie during its time, Ben Hur was the first film to be acknowledged by the Pope. This is one film EVERY family has to watch!

Psycho (1960)

Interesting title for a classic isn't it? Although not one of Hitchcock's greatest movies, it is surely his most famous movie. Compared to the promiscuity and violence of today's movies, whatever this movie contains seems extremely tame. However, you have to remember, Hitchcock did go against many strict Hollywood "No-No"s of the time and braved on into this psychological thriller. Although a little dodgy compared to the modern movies of today, this movie is still good fun!
