In a nutshell, casual clothing denotes any clothes in which you feel comfortable and clothes which serve to 'express' yourself. Of course, a whole load of different types of clothing come under the banner of 'casual clothing', so it would make my life and your life easier if we just identified the type of clothing which isn't casual:
1. Clothes which are used for a particular occasion, such as wedding gowns and millitary uniform
2. Any formal wear, such as a white or black tie
3. Any coat suits, something like the type sold by Brooks Brothers
As many of you would obviously know, denim jeans and t - shirts are also classified as casual clothing. With the increase of spectator presence at sporting events in the late 20th century, clothes worn by the sportspersons have also become popular. Anything worn for manual labour also comes under casuals.
Generally, most types of new fashions are attempted when wearing casual clothes, before being worn in semi - casual or semi - formal events. A good example would be male - earrings, which was considered very rude and strange before, but, now, isn't even noticed when it's worn in semi - formal events.
In the same way, nowadays, there are more and more men dropping their trousers low as a method of embracing the clothing of prisoners (who weren't allowed belts so that they wouldn't hang themselves), which infiltrated the outside world through rappers, and is now a fast - growing fashion, although there have been measures in some states to ban this type of clothing, which haven't been all the too successful.
In recent times, men in Europe have started to warm up to the concept of wearing sarongs as an alternate to trousers.
Here are a few tips to help you maintain a casual look:
1. Always look after your casual clothes well by ironing and cleaning them whenever needed.
2. Look for a good pair of casual shoes because, you may have the best set of casual clothes on, but all of it can be laid to waste if you wear something like white running shoes. Retro sneaks, boots, sandals would look great with casual wear.
3. Get some casual accessories on - board. Don't be wearing a nice gold watch with a casual t - shirt, unless, of course, you want to look like a rapper! Get some nice sports watches to go along with those sweatshirts. |
