Tips on What You Need to Look For When Buying a Computer

Buying a personal computer is one of the best decisions you will ever make. In the modern world it is almost impossible to survive without a computer or without any knowledge about computers. There are many things you need to consider before buying a computer.

First and foremost you need to know the reason you're buying the computer. There can be many reasons to buy a computer, like for office work, entertainment, programming, graphics, to learn or just to make life easy. The type of computer you will need to buy will change according to the requirement. Alright, leave all these specifications aside, when you're buying a computer in general there are some things you need to check on. The hard disk capacity and RPM speed, RAM size (or the memory size), speed of processor, mother board and it's FSB (FSB is the rate at which the mother board communicates with the cards), VGA or 3D card, sound card and the sound system, monitor, UPS which is a back up power supply, DVD drive or/and writer, the key board and mouse.

These are the most basic of computer parts and peripherals you need to check on. The size, speed, manufacturer and quality will change depending on the reason why you are buying the computer. Say for example you are buying a computer for graphical purposes. Then your computer will need a big hard disk, a big memory, fast processor, a very good graphics card and a really good monitor. If you are using your computer for programming purposes then a big VGA card is not necessary.

The manufacturer is very important. It is always safer to buy the product of a reputed manufacturer. Unless you are buying a stock computer which will be originally pre assembled you will need to know the manufacturers who are recognized as quality product suppliers. As an example Intel and AMD for processors, Kingston for RAM's, NVIDIA G-force for VGA cards, Gigabyte and MSI for mother boards and so on. These names are my selections as the best manufacturers for the product. However some persons may have different views.

The other important thing to remember is price. Always check with at least three or four dealers before you make up your mind to buy a computer. Mess around a bit and see which dealer will give the best deal for your money. When it come to computers don't settle for any thing less than the best. Manufacturers who develop computer accessories tend to come up with better products every couple of months. So if you buy a computer today, it is most likely that it will be obsolete within a year or so. So make sure that you buy the best that you can afford, so that you will be able to use the computer for sometime before having to replace it.
