About electronics

Learn about electronics and the technology that makes them function. While it's easy for the user to press a button and access their information, there are a million little things that work together under the cover which allows that push of a button to give the user the result they are looking for.

Learning About Electronics

Electronics is a fascinating branch of science and a great hobby for those who enjoy the wonderful inventions of science and technology. Electronics is not necessarily a field for the engineers or experts. Even an average person can learn electronics easily if he has the interest and inclination for it.

The method of learning electronics will differ from individual to individual, depending upon their personal learning style. The ones who are keen on learning the fundamentals and the basic theories and principles behind the electronic functions, they can make a beginning in this area by reading a few good books on electronics.

There are also a large number of people who may not be keen or may not have the spare time to read and gain knowledge of the fundamentals behind electronics. Such people are eager to learn more quickly, and their desire for learning is limited or confined to a basic workable or operational knowledge.

For such basic learners who have little time to invest in learning, they can look for some good "Do-It-Yourself" kits such as a robot assembly kit or any other electronics assembly kit that may interest them.

Let us discuss here some of the most basic principles of electronics for the sake of improving our learning in this field:

BASIC DEFINITION OF ELECTRONICS

Electronics is basically the movement of electrons or flow of charge through such conductors of electricity that are not metallic in nature. Silicon is one such semi-conductor of electricity that is used in electronics. Electricals, on the other hand, refers to a flow of charge through a metallic conductor such as copper.

ELECTRONIC PARTS

An electronic machinery or gadget is basically an electronic system that consists of various parts or components. Such electronic parts direct the flow of electronic charge in such a manner that it makes the whole electronic system function in the intended manner.

Various electronic components are usually in contact with each other within the electronic system. They are joined together to a Print Circuit Board commonly known as "PCB".

ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS

There are two main types of Electronic Circuits - Analog and Digital.

ANALOG CIRCUITS: The principal feature of an Analog Circuit is that it uses a continuous level of voltage. It is primarily linear in nature, therefore its performance is also limited. When electronics was in its early stages of development, only Analog circuits were made, and thus, only Analog devices were produced, such as vacuum tubes and transistors.

DIGITAL CIRCUITS: The world of electronics got transformed with the development of Digital Circuits. The main principle behind the digital circuit is that it uses a number of varying voltage ranges. Once the digital circuit was developed, it quickly led to a revolution in the field of electronics, and produced extremely efficient and high-performance electronic devices and gadgets. Computer became the most important beneficiary of digital circuits, and it completely changed the way data and information was stored and processed in our world.

SUMMARY: Electronics is an endless field offering a lot to learn for everyone. The good part is that it is a practical field, where you cannot just learn by theory, but must be able to apply it physically and see the results for yourself. Electronics can be great fun if you have a natural inclination for technology.
