Stuff to Do in San Francisco with Kids ~ Sheena West

Whether you’re visiting San Francisco with your family or live there full time, you may be wondering how much stuff to do in San Francisco there is for people with kids. Luckily, there are lots of things you can do with kids in San Francisco. Start with the basics: going for scenic walks and visiting local parks, which are numerous and fabulous. You can also visit the local libraries, and enjoy many of the area’s children’s museums and aquariums. Other things to do include walking the Golden Gate Bridge and taking your kids to a street fair one weekend in the summer.

If you’ve hit up all the things on this list and are still looking for more things to do in the area, here are just two options that you might want to try:

Enjoy the SF MOMA

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art isn’t the first place you’d think of when trying to consider what to do with your kids. It is, after all, full of expensive paintings that wouldn’t be better for having a two-year-old’s fingerprints on them. However, the SF MOMA is really fairly family friendly, and taking your kids here can really teach them about art appreciation and encourage them to try their own artistic pursuits.

If you’re skeptical, you can try the MOMA when it’s free. Four times a year, the museum hosts free family days that allow you to join in the fun without paying a dime. These days are full of fun activities for kids, as well as performances and readings. When you’re there for a family day, sign your kids up for the Mods club, which is for young artists and art lovers alike. Kids who sign up get a Mods badge and can bring an adult with them to the museum for free on Family Sundays.

Another way to enjoy the SF MOMA is to actually create art of your own. The museum hosts interesting projects on Family Sundays, so you can create your own art in a hands-on atmosphere. These Sundays are also great times to expose your kids to the beauty of modern art, since the docent-led gallery tours on these days are completely family friendly. On these days, kids under twelve get into the museum free, and adults pay regular admission unless they’re with a kid wearing a Mods badge.

Check Out Pump it Up

Pump It Up is a great bounce house and play zone that’s perfect for parties or just a day of playing. During the week, kids can enjoy Pop In Playtime. You just pay an admission fee, and your kids can be bouncing around for hours, getting out all that energy before you even head out the door.

Pump It Up also offers some really interesting summer camps for kids, which are a great way to keep your kids active and engaged in the summer. The camps focus on art and creativity and allow kids to make use of all their artistic talents. They also let kids bounce to their hearts’ content, which is a lot of fun for kids on warm summer days.

For the little ones, there is Pump Start, a weekly structured playtime that teaches teamwork and listening skills. It’s a great way for your little one to meet new friends and have a great time while getting exercise and building life skills!

Finally, Pump It Up is a great option if you’re looking for stuff to do for a kid’s birthday party in San Francisco. This company takes all the stress out of the party planning by doing it for you. There are plenty of party packages so that you can customize your birthday party to your exact needs.

There's plenty of stuff to do in San Francisco! You just need to know where to look!
