PLAYGROUPS Great Places for Fun in San Francisco ~ Sheena West
If your kids are in need of some fun, San Francisco has a lot to offer. This vibrant city is full of lots of different places where kids can have an absolutely fantastic time. From parks to beaches to interesting shops, San Francisco’s got it all. Here are just a few of the best fun places to take kids in San Francisco!
Peekadoodle Kids Club
This little club for kids is located in Ghirardelli Square in the heart of San Francisco. It features plenty of fun activities for kids, and it can even give parents a bit of a respite. One of the best parts about the kids club is that you can just let your kids go. The club’s Play Space is 1300 square feet of pure fun, featuring a mini Victorian house and a large scale model of the Golden Gate Bridge. There’s even a special play area for infants that features age-appropriate toys and padding for those learning how to crawl or walk.
Peekadoodle is also great for parents. The café and coffee shop on site serves some excellent snacks and even meals for the entire family. When you drop your kids off for a class, you can stick around with your novel and a latte. The children’s boutique in Peekadoodle offers some of the most fun clothing items and more for little ones. It’s a great place to shop for your own kids, or even to pick up a baby shower gift!
If you really want your kids to learn something new rather than just playing around at the club, you can enroll them in one of the club’s many classes. It’s a great place to be because there are so many offerings under one roof. Kids can take art, yoga, dance, cooking, sign language, and more all in this one fantastic location!
Seesaw Café and Play Studio
The Seesaw Café and Play Studio is truly a San Francisco original. It offers the best for both children and their parents, and it’s a great place to go if the kids are restless but you need to do some work, check your email, or simply get a breather. This is also a fantastic place to meet up for lunch with a friend while the kids play and enjoy the play studio.
Basically, the play studio is attached to a great little café that serves a full menu of snacks and lunch items as well as the caffeine kick you need in the middle of the day. The studio features beautiful lifelike toys and a mini café of its own where kids can role play and start learning to be grownups. During the day, you can simply pop in. As long as you’re a paying customer at the café, your kids are welcome to enjoy the play studio with whoever else happens to be around.
The Seesaw Café also offers a variety of classes and such. On some days of the week, you can pay a babysitter to supervise your kids while you actually focus on work – or just that novel you’ve been trying to finish all month! The studio also offers all sorts of fun story times and classes for kids. For instance, on any given week, you might find story hours featuring languages like Korean and French. It’s a great way to expose your kids to other cultures and languages, and it’s fun for them, as well.
Try these places if you're planning to take your kids out for a day of San Francisco fun!
