An Interview with Dr. Ryan C. Alexander on Invisalign.
Dr. Ryan C. Alexander is a Dentist who has answered some of the common questions bizymoms visitors have about Invisalign.
Q. What is an invisalign?
A. Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment to straighten teeth without braces.
Q. How does invisalign work?
A. Impressions are taken of your teeth and converted into a digital file. Next we use the 3D digital file to virtually move your teeth into the final straight position. Then a series of clear, plastic, removable aligners are fabricated that each move your teeth into the new position, incrementally. The clear aligners are worn 20+ hours a day and are taken out for eating, brushing and flossing. Most Invisalign cases take between 6-12 months.
Q. What are the primary benefits of invisalign?
A. Benefits of Invisalign include but are not limited to:
a. Better periodontal (gum) health
b. Easier time with oral hygiene habits
c. Improved esthetics
d. Improved bite relationship
Q. How long does invisalign treatment take?
A. Treatment time can range from 3 months to 18 months, depending on the extent of tooth crowding or misalignment.
Q. How much does invisalign cost?
A. Invisalign cost ranges from $3,500 to $6,000, depending on the complexity of the case.
Q. Who uses invisalign?
A. Most Invisalign patients are adults, mainly for the compliance problems that are common with youngsters. However, I have had success with teenagers who are responsible to wear the aligners as prescribed.
Q. Are there certain dental conditions that automatically exclude someone from being an eligible patient?
A. The only person who would be excluded is someone who I felt would not be compliant. Invisalign is a great product, but it only works if the patient wears it as prescribed.
