An Interview with Dr. Lawrence Foster on Mommy Makeover.

Dr. Lawrence Foster is a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Here the Doctor has answered some of the common questions bizymoms visitors have about Mommy Makeover.

Q.   What is a mommy makeover?

A.   Mommy Makeover is a tummy tuck and breast implant combo.

Q.   Who is a good candidate for mommy makeover?

A.   Anyone who has a tummy pooch and deflated or saggy breasts after delivery is a good candidate for the Mommy Makeover.

Q.   What are the important facts about the safety and risks of the Mommy Makeover?

A.   Many patients can have the breast implants placed through the tummy tuck incision, others require a 1 inch incision in the crease beneath the breast. Really big patients may not be able to have both procedures at the same time safely. For those, we do the breast the day after the tummy. We have a perfect safety record in 30,000 surgeries over 33 years! Safety is job #1.

Q.   What happens during the Mommy Makeover?

A.   Patients stay overnight in a nearby motel ($45/night) so the doctor can make a "house call" at 5 PM on the day of surgery and again at 8 AM the next morning. Most go home the day after the surgery. There is a drain to remove a week later. We see California patients in Sacramento once a month. Nevada patients come back to Tahoe for drain removal, and for some from farther distances we arrange for a Plastic Surgeon in their area to remove the drain. Most all sutures are buried & dissolvable so they won't make stitch marks and don't need to be removed.

Q.   What are the Options for the Mommy Makeover?

A.   There are 3 different degrees of tummy tuck and 3 different degrees of breast lift. Each patient gets exactly the procedure they need. It's definitely not "one size fits all"!

Q.   What is the recovery time for Mommy Makeover?

A.   All patients are up and around the day after surgery, many go back to work in a week if they have a desk job, two weeks for nurses and waitresses.

Q.   How much will the Mommy Makeover cost?

A.   Total cost for patients under 150 lbs is $8760. Over 150 lbs it is $10,200. This covers everything including 3 months of follow-up.
