An Interview with Dr. Robert Aycock on Breast Lifting
Dr. Robert Aycock is a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Here the Doctor has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Breast Lifting.
Q. What is Breast Lifting?
Breast Lifting is a surgery best known as a Mastopexy. The objective of a Mastopexy is to reposition the nipple areola complex and take out the excess skin envelope. Basically after women have babies and breast feed they find that their breasts have undergone some changes resulting in loss of elasticity and fullness.
Q. How is breast lift surgery done?
The breast lift is performed under general anesthesia through an anchor type incision going around the areola straight down and across the infamammary fold. Most patients opt for an implant at the time of this procedure to achieve fullness. The scars do fade over time and my patients tell me that the benefit of their newly shaped breasts out weigh having scars.
Q. What is the recovery period like?
The recovery for this procedure is 6 weeks. No heavy lifting, no working out.
Q. Who is an ideal candidate for breast lift surgery?
The ideal candidate for breast lift surgery is a woman who has had a baby, is in good health and a non smoker.
Q. Are there risks and complications to a breast lift surgery?
Potential complications that can occur with this surgery are hypertrophic scars, loss of tissue and asymmetry. Unfortunately we can not remove the element of risk involved with surgery but we can do everything possible to ensure that each patient looks their very best.
Q. How long do the results last?
The results of this surgery are permanent. However, your body will continue to age and you will continue to experience changes in your breasts associated with aging or lack of a good support bra.
Q. How much does breast lift surgery cost?
The fee for Mastopexy is approximately $8000.
Mastopexy with Augmentation using Silicone Implants is approximately $11,350.
Mastopexy with Augmentation using Saline Implants is approximately $10, 350.
As with all of our procedures, these fees include the surgeon’s fee, the anesthesia and operating room fees as well as all your preoperative and post operative care.
