Q. How do I know if I have wisdom teeth?
A. By having your dentist take a panoromic X-ray.
Q. How Are Wisdom Teeth Removed?
A. Usually surgically under local or general anesthesia.
Q. Are all wisdom teeth problematical?
A. Most of the time due to lack of space.
Q. If my wisdom teeth need to be removed, who will do it?
A. Usually an Oral Surgeon, sometimes a general dentist may be confident and do it at his/her office.
Q. What do I have to do to prepare for surgery?
A. Usually not have anything to eat for 8 hours and nothing to drink but clear liquids for upto 4 hours before the surgery if one is going to sleep. I recommend my patients to take oral antibiotics before the procedure to prevent an infection.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Depends on how difficult the teeth are to take out and also on the dental insurance plan. If all the teeth are fully impacted sometimes the medical insurance will cover it.
Q. How long will it take?
A. Typically one hour.
