Dentist Renton WA - An interview with Dr. Jeff Keh

Q. Tell us about yourself and your practice.

A. I grew up in Irvine, California and went to dental school in Boston, Massachusetts. Before I was a dentist, I have experience as a dental hygienist and a dental assistant. I wanted to setup a practice that reflects my personality which is easy-going, and have a feeling of being at "home." We started our practices about 2 1/2 years ago, and we have been growing ever since.

Q. Please explain the main services you offer.

A. We are a general practice dental office. Our main services are the cleanings, fillings, root canal therapy, crown and bridges.

Q. Do you accept insurance? If yes, What types?

A. We accept practically every type of dental insurances.

Q. Do you offer after hour care and emergency services?

A. We offer after hour care and emergency services. If it is a dental emergency, we can usually schedule the patient on the same day.

Q. How quickly will a person be able to complete cosmetic dentistry treatment?

A. Cosmetic dentistry treatment is hard to define. For crowns, bridges, and veneer works it will take about two weeks from start to finish.

Q. What kind of questions should a person ask when looking for a cosmetic dentist?

A. Do they have experience working with veneer or all porcelain crowns. What type of filling materials do they use?

Q. What can a person do about stained and colored teeth?

A. Minor stain and colored teeth can be whiten with over the counter bleaching system. If the stain is more severe, then the professional dental take home tray or in-office bleaching might be needed to remove the more severe stains. For stains that results from childhood tetracycline use; unfortunately, veneer would be the only choice available

Q. If a person has darkened teeth from taking antibiotics as a child, is there anything he could do to make them look white again?

A. Unfortunately, because the stain is intrinsic to the tooth. Veneer would be the only way to make them white again.

Q. Do veneers look natural?

A. Veneer look very natural. Most labs can customize it to look anyway you wants.

Q. Does your office offer laser dentistry?

A. Our office does offer laser dentistry. We have both the waterlase and powerlase. If the cavity is small enough, we can fill most cavities without getting the patient numb.

Q. How can a person tell if he/she have gingivitis or periodontitis (gum disease)?

A. Gum disease is classified as either periodontitis or gingivitis. Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gum, and a patient can tell that he/she have gingivitis by looking in the mirror and see the color of their gum. If the gum is reddish instead of pink, chances are the patient has gingivitis. Or if it bleeds when flossing or brushing, it is a very distinct sign of gingivitis. Periodontitis is a little harder for the patient to tell since it has more to do with the actual attachment level of the tooth. A probing depth and x-rays are necessary to diagnose periodontitis.

Q. Why is Crown and Bridge Treatment necessary?

A. A crown is needed to restore a previously fractured tooth or to prevent a fracture. A bridge is needed to restore a loss or missing tooth.
