Difference Between Love and Lust |
|
Love and lust are easily confused because they are so much alike. Couples who are in a relationship, where they do not share common interest at all other than overwhelming physical desire for one another, may be just lust. A couple who is truly in love will not care about the activity they are having, because they simply enjoy each other’s company.
In order to find the difference between love & lust the following questions should be answered carefully:
- Do you really care for his safety & happiness?
- When in a conflict are you able to talk to the other person in a very open, calm and frank discussion, without losing your temper?
- Can you talk to him about anything under the sun? Or is it just always sweet talk and things about sex?
- Do you enjoy each other’s company, regardless of the activity?
- Are you able to accept the other person when he is not at his best physical condition or appearance?
- Are you willing to spend time with the other person even without having sex?
- Do you have a mutual respect for the other person?
Here are some facts to differentiate love from lust:
LUST
- You are totally focused on his looks and body.
- You don’t bother to return his calls and you can easily go for days without talking to him.
- You only want to be with him to have sex.
- You leave after sex [find easy ways].
LOVE
- You have a great chemistry.
- You want to spend time with him.
- You see a future together.
- You introduce him to your family.
- You include him in your plans.
- He makes you want to be a better woman.
Three important points that distinguish love from lust:
- The way it makes us feel
- The dynamics of our interaction
- The focus of our attention
[Corinthians 13:1]
Here are some fun facts [which are quite true] which I came across about the difference of love and lust:
LOVE - When your eyes meet across a crowded room.
LUST - When your tongues meet across a crowded room.
LOVE - When intercourse is called making love.
LUST - When intercourse is called screwing.
LOVE -When you share everything you own.
LUST - When you steal everything they own.
LOVE - When it doesn’t matter if you don’t climax.
LUST -When the relationship is over if you don’t climax.
LOVE - When your heart flutters every time you see them.
LUST - When your groin twitches every time you see them.
LOVE - When all the songs on the radio describe exactly how you feel.
LUST - When all the songs on the radio determine how you do it.
LOVE -When breaking up is something you try not to think about.
LUST -When staying together is something you try not to think about.
LOVE - When you’re only interested in doing things with your partner.
LUST -When you’re only interested in doing things TO your partner.
LOVE -When a rainy day means more time to stay inside and talk.
LUST -When a rainy day means more time to stay inside and have sex.
LOVE - You only leave the house for coffee and doughnuts.
LUST - You only leave the house for condoms and Vaseline.
Lust and love are separated by a very thin line. Therefore, it is important for you to be able to tell the difference in order to save you from wasting time presuming a relationship that is destined to fail. |
