Buying A Wedding Gown |
|
Perhaps the biggest worry of a bride – to – be is picking out the perfect wedding gown. Your wedding gown is probably the most important dress you will ever wear and you will find that everyone has an idea about what makes the perfect wedding dress. For a bride, buying the dress is such a momentous decision; here are some tips for picking the perfect dress and avoiding any kind of awful fate:
- Bring the entourage, but don’t buy. It’s fun and useful to bring your mother, friends or sisters on the dress – shopping expedition.
- Don’t buy too early unless you must. Give yourself some time to sit on your decision.
- If you’ve bought “The one” stop shopping. Any more window - shopping at this point will only lead you down the road toward the dreary land of Two – Dress Brides.
- If you’ve bought ‘The One’ and can’t stop shopping, get a second opinion. Show your first and second choices to other brides.
- Don’t tell yourself “I’ll sell the old dress and choose a new one.”
- Don’t be afraid to aim high – no matter what your budget. Nothing is lost if you are willing to shop courageously, but not recklessly.
- Shop online, but never send a check. Bridal gown business sometimes has a way of disappearing overnight.
- Don’t hold out forever for the One. Some brides never find the One. Try, planning from the theme instead of the dress.
- Think about the date you have set for your wedding. If you have summer wedding, you will likely want a lighter, cooler dress and for a winter wedding, you would likely choose a heavier or warmer dress sleeveless verses long sleeves, or gloves verses bare hands.
- You have to consider whether you are having a formal or casual wedding.
- You need to know whether the store you are going to buy your wedding dress from provides wedding dress alterations, have matching accessories, whether you are able to order your bridesmaid’s dresses to compliment the wedding dress from the same store, etc.
- Also as basic points don’t forget to consider these: The budget, the style, your body shape, accessories, color of the gown, and other important factors.
Ultimately, the wedding dress you choose should compliment you, make you feel absolutely beautiful, and make sure you really stand out on your special day – so it’s not an easy decision to make, but if you follow these tips, you will find the perfect wedding dress for yourself at a reasonable price. |
