Outdoor Fun Activities

What’s the best time of year to enjoy the great outdoors? Well for me there no such time of the year, whether its spring, summer, autumn or winter there is plenty to do.

Spring
During this warm season there is plenty of outdoor activities for both you and your family.

Kids love the great outdoors, take out those garden tools, encourage and indulge them in some gardening or with backyard projects and activities such as club houses, tire swings, butterfly garden, hunt for bugs, garden beds, create a vegetable patch and explore nature.

There maybe a few rainy days during this season. If you and your family are stuck indoors with nothing to do and getting a little agitated here what you can do, takeout those rain coats and Wellingtons its time to jump puddles, make paper boats, wash the windows, fill pails of water or draw funny faces on the windows.

Spring is also an allergy season; therefore take precautions before venturing outdoors to enjoy your favorite activities such as riding your bike, walking, roller skating, morning jog or your favorite game of tennis.

Summer
School is out for the summer and there are plenty of activities for both yourself and the kids. Here are a few popular outdoor summer activities:

  • Sports - cycling, basketball, skating, volleyball on the beach, baseball, football, cricket, swimming, surfing and kite surfing
  • Nature walks, bird watching, mountain climbing, hiking, kite flying or drive to the park or to the zoo
  • If your on holiday take a boating trip, or play a game of family golf, wild life safari or whale watching
  • Pool parties, barbeques and camping trips

Don’t forget to have yourself and the kids dressed in comfortable clothing during the summer months and have some cool lemonade to cool you off.

Autumn
There is plenty too do but the weather does not always permit you to go outdoors. This is the most colourful season of all.

The one outdoor activity that both parent and kids enjoy during fall is going trick –a-treating for Halloween.

If you live in the country now is the time to go outdoors and pick some nice bright pumpkins and shinny apples.

If you don’t live in the country go look at your backyard you could see leaves of different sizes and colours falling off the tree. You could collect these dead leaves or conkers and make them into works of art.

Adults can enjoy an outdoor bonfires or Halloween barbeque parties.

Winter
This is the busiest and enjoyable season of all. If it starts snowing make sure you put on some warm gear and head to the garden or nearby slopes and go skiing, ice skating and snow boarding. Kids love to make snowmen, lie in the snow and make snow angels, throw snow ball at each other, decorate the garden for Christmas, take walks and look for animal foot prints and build an igloos.

ome geographic areas don’t experience snow during winter. They have a hot humid weather and cold nights. Go outdoors during the night and look at the stars, you might be luck and spot the largest constellation Orion, depending on your location.
