Q. Do you provide free consultation?
A. Consultations are free of charge.
Q. Does hair transplant look Natural?
A. With today's state of the art follicular unit transplantation and having the procedure done by one of Bosley's highly skilled and trained surgeons, the result is totally natural looking.
Q. How long does it take to recover from hair transplant surgery?
A. Recovery time after the procedure is about 3 days with regard to immediate post-operative discomfort. It takes about 7 to 10 days, depending on the amount of existing hair that one has, before the scabbing and redness of the scalp is gone.
Q. What are the types of hair transplants you perform?
A. The only type of hair transplant that I perform is the strip harvested follicular unit hair transplant
Q. Are the options for combating Hair loss in men different from women?
A. The options for combating hair loss are different for men and women. Men's hair loss has been isolated to being caused by the production of one single hormone called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Men can take a prescription pill called Propecia to block the production of the hormone DHT that their body produces to stop or at least slow down the hair loss process. Women on the other hand are a much more complicated story.Women's hair loss is not caused by a single hormone, but rather a multitude of different ones. The percentage of DHT that contributes to female pattern hair loss is very minimal and therefore Propecia is not of any statistically significant benefit to women. In addition, women of child bearing age cannot take Propecia, because if they were to become pregnant, the baby needs the hormone DHT for certain anatomical developments. Thus, it could cause birth defects if the mother was using it. The two other medical modalities of Rogaine and Low Level Light Therapy are equally effective for both men and women.
Q. Are there complications or risks in a hair transplant?
A. As with any procedure there are potential risks/complications- this is a surgical procedure. However, with that being said, the risks/complications are very minimal. Rare potential risks include allergic reaction to local anesthesia and excessive bleeding, and post-operative wound infection is a potential complication.
Q. If a client has already had a transplant with another doctor and is disappointed with the results, can it be redone?
A. If a patient has had an unsatisfactory result from a prior hair transplant from another physician, another procedure can possibly be done given that there is enough donor hair available for another procedure, and Bosley surgeons will do everything they possibly can to satisfy each and every patient. |
