An Interview with Dr. Larry Levin on Invisalign

Dr. Larry Levin is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Invisalign.

Q. What is an invisalign?

A. Invisalign is a form of Orthodontics that can straighten teeth with clear aligners rather than traditional braces

Q. How does invisalign work?

A. Invisalign works by wearing these clear Aligners for at least 22 hours per day.  Each aligner is worn for two weeks and then the next Aligner is put in.  Each Aligner will perform a certain amount of movement so that after all the required Aligners have been worn, the end result is achieved.

Q. What are the primary benefits of invisalign?

A. The primary benefits of Invisalign are the obvious cosmetic advantage because nothing can be seen on your teeth.  In addition, it is easier to care for your teeth during treatment because all brushing, flossing and eating are done with the Aligners removed.

Q. How long does invisalign treatment take?

A. Treatment time varies depending on the severity of the problem, the number of Aligners in treatment and the compliance of the patient.   It could be as little as 4 months for a minimal problem or over 2 years for a more involved problem.

Q. How much does invisalign cost?

A. Again the cost of Invisalign varies based on the length of treatment but in general it is about the same as traditional orthodontics.

Q. Who uses invisalign?

A. Dentists who are trained in the Invisalign technique by Align Technology are the dentists who use Invisalign.

Q. Are there certain dental conditions that automatically exclude someone from being an eligible patient?

A. Yes there are certain situations that are not appropriate for Invisalign treatment.  Some examples might be a jaw discrepancy that might require jaw surgery in addition to orthodontics, or extreme crowding where multiple extractions would be required.

Q. How to contact Dr. Levin if we have further questions?
