Finding Quality Coupons
When I initially started collecting coupons, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get coupons for everything I wanted, but I soon realized that there were coupons everywhere. It was just a matter of looking in the right places.
To start collecting coupons, you should draw a list of what you purchase, and how much you purchase. You should also know how many times you buy these products. If you abide by the basic rule of couponing and purchase items when they are put up on sale, you’ll have to deduce how many coupons you need to get yourself through a year. For example, if you purchase ABC brand of soap, and you purchase 20 bars of ABC soap every year, you should have 20 ABC soap coupons.
If you use only a particular brand of soap, then you should look for coupons on the manufacturer’s site. A lot of consumer products manufacturers will have sites, which will have a page devoted to special promotions, which is where you’ll get your coupons. Most of them can be printed once every 3 – 6 months.
You could also venture to sites which give you a list of all printable coupons, and the links to them. This can save you a lot of time and energy when searching for coupons.
Most grocery joints which have sites will also have printable coupons which you can use in their shops. There will be the coupons offered by the grocery store and by the manufacturer. You could use them both on a product, thereby getting double savings!
Have a look at your food cupboards before you make a journey to the grocery store. Some of the product’s boxes have coupons, which you will be able to peel or cut off.
Some forums may have shoppers like you who are willing to trade their coupons with you, as they may not be eating the same cereal that you do. Whenever you find some coupons in the Sunday paper, cut them out even if you don’t use them, so that you can trade them. You could also sell these coupons on eBay. However, remember that it’s illegal to sell the coupons itself, but it’s perfectly OK to charge for the time you spent collecting them.
Send in a favourable review to the manufacturers whose products you buy. Most of them would be receiving a large number of complaints, so they’d be pleased to see what you have to say, and may send you some coupons which you could use when purchasing their product again.
Phone books are also another great source of coupons. Restaurants, car washes and others like them give out coupons in phone books. Local stores also offer some, and most of these coupons are rarely clipped out!
Become a part of a direct mail coupon club. These clubs give away a monthly mail of coupons, which will increase your savings by a huge amount. Manufacturers tend to send coupons to club members, so they may give you a higher savings than the local newspaper ones!
