| The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which is more commonly known by its abbreviation, PA, is a state which is situated in the Middle Atlantic and Northeast part of the US. The states which border PA include West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and a water border with Canada. The biggest city of the state, according to population, is Philadelphia. Pennsylvania is also popularly known as the Keystone State since 1802, which is due to its location in the center of the first Thirteen Colonies which formed the US and also because of the number of integral documents which were signed in the state, an example being the Declaration of Independence. Another nickname of the state is the Quaker State, which comes from the official name of the state during colonial times, Quaker Province. The economy of the state is the 6th best in the country, according to GDP. |
