Q.    What is Botox?

A.    Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) is a purified protein that is administered in a simple, nonsurgical procedure to temporarily reduce wrinkles. The effects last from 3-4 months and require repeat treatments. There is no downtime with minimal and brief discomfort.

Q.    Who is the ideal candidate for BOTOX?

A.    People ranging in age from 18 to 65 in relatively good health who have some concerns about wrinkles and fine lines.

Q.    How does BOTOX work?

A.    Very small doses of BOTOX are injected directly into the muscles that are responsible for the wrinkles. The BOTOX blocks the release of the chemical that causes the muscle to contract which enables the muscle to relax. The skin then appears smoother, reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Q.    What is the recovery period for BOTOX?

A.    There is no real recovery time for BOTOX.

Q.    How long do the results of BOTOX last?

A.    Results have been proven to last up to four to six months. However, results do vary from patient to patient.

Q.    How much does BOTOX cost?

A.    Botox varies in price from physician to physician; however, the average price in the U.S. is $300-$1000 per treatment, depending on how much is administered.

Q.    Who should perform a BOTOX procedure?

A.    BOTOX should only be administered by a licensed health care professional including dermatologists, plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons, ophthalmologists and maxillofacial surgeons. In some states, physician assistants and registered nurses can administer BOTOX under the supervision of a physician.
