Managing a Multiple Baby Budget

When you are scanned with a multiple pregnancy you would initially be overjoyed at the double blessing. But as the pregnancy proceeds, and the delivery date gets closer, you might be concerned about expenses that will arise with your double or triple blessing, where you may have prepared financially for only one blessing. But don’t worry too much. Relax. With proper planning you can account for two or more, without having to spend that much more than what you initially planned for, when deciding to have a baby. Even if you think certain activities won’t save you much, remember even small things add up.

Yes you would have to adjust your budget. But begin with adjusting your way of thinking. This is very important to get your finances in order. Rethink about what you are going to purchase, as to whether it is a real requirement. Next sit down with your partner and adjust your ways together. Sort out ways in which you can cut down on your cost per month. Put aside unnecessary spending and think of ways to save together, before your babies are born, to give you time to adjust. e.g. If you are used to going out to expensive locations for dates, don’t cut out your dates, but change the location to a less fancy place like a beach, a park, or a local event. It will be a change and more fun, while also saving you loads than you can imagine.

Start saving every small thing from the first day. Make your short day at the hospital profitable for you by collecting as much free stuff as possible. Whether it is lotion, cream, diapers or even diaper pins, collect them and even ask for more.

Before buying two of each, take the time to ask around your family and friends for things you can borrow, like a crib or stroller. If you get lucky you won’t have to buy anything. Or even if you are only left with having to buy one, you can save on that by purchasing second hand.

Try to strike a deal with your doctor that if you stick only with him throughout the whole year, whether he could charge only for one, or at least half rate for the second baby. Also if you are working, check with your company for any reimbursement for childcare expenses through their welfare society.

Save a lot by using cloth diapers than disposable diapers for daily use. Keep them only for outings. Buy baby goods in bulk to enjoy a discounted rate. Baby food doesn’t have to cost a lot, as babies enjoy mashed bananas and other soft food, which makes it easier on your pocket then buying pre-packaged food.

Find simple things to keep your babies happily engaged, rather then buying expensive gift. They will love banging pans or empty boxes, than fancy toys.

These are only few ways in which you can manage your multiple baby budget and yet lead an enjoyable life as a great BIG family.
