Issues with Imported Products

In today’s world no single country is self sustained. With today’s complex social life, humans require a wide variety of goods and services. No single country is equipped with the natural or man maid resources to satisfy these needs. Due to this issue all the countries in the world are forced to trade with each other.

Food, housing and clothing are the three most important needs of a human being. Humans need food for nutrition, housing for shelter and clothing not so much as for style, but to become socially accepted (and of course to keep from freezing in winter). Beyond these three basic needs, humans develop other needs and wants. These needs and wants develop as the life of humans become complex. Humans are very selfish and impatient and tend to get tired of doing the same thing over and over again, so humans look for alternate means to keep themselves occupied.

These wants and needs of humans cannot be met by the resources available in a single country, so began the import and export business. Importing products from other countries has its ups and downs. Sometimes it is easy to import a good rather than manufacture it within the country. Manufacturing the good within the country might be more expensive than importing a product. In some cases, a certain county will not have the required resources to make the product.

Importing products is a must do for most countries, but sometimes it might create many unforeseen issues. Say for an example, a certain product is made within the country. Then it is discovered that the same product can be imported for a cheaper price. If the product is imported, then the local manufactures will most probably be over run by the imported product, which in turn will cause the manufactures to close down. This will cause the unemployment rate to go up (provided that the product was in mass production and a large number of employees had to leave because the production facility closed down).

When the market is flooded with imported products, the value of local products might go down. The customer might request for the imported product because it is of higher quality or it is low in price, or just because it is from another country. This will cause local manufactures to take a major hit.

Imported products might also become faulty. The product might not work as expected due to climate changes or various other reasons. Say if a product does not work accordingly, then replacing that product also might be a problem. Sometimes the product might be too complex to use (especially if the product is electronic and/or if the manual is written in a different language). The customer might not be able to utilize the product to its full capacity.

These are but a fraction of the problems that countries face when importing products. A country cannot survive alone, no country is fully equipped to satisfy all human needs, but sometimes importing a product just because it is the easy thing to do might not always be the right thing to do!
