How to Handle Twins

Congratulations on becoming a parent of twins. Feeling overwhelmed with receiving double happiness in one go? Being parents of twins can be quite a challenge. It doesn’t only include double happiness, but also double responsibilities and commitments. Looking after twins can be very stressful to new mothers as well as mothers with children.

With your hands filled with the tons of things needed to done with twins, handling twins may become an issue unless you are prepared and aware of certain situations which you would have to tackle wisely. As parents you need to involve yourself in proper time management so that your challenges and responsibilities do not overshadow a lifetime experience of love and happiness.

When you become the mother of twins, your immediate issue would be nursing. Would you have enough for two hungry babies? How do you manage two babies, feeding two babies at the same time? To handle this issue, you would need a lot of patience, and a few supportive friends. Also try attending a class for breast feeding, as it will leave you feeling confident and will provide you with tons of helpful tips you may not have been aware of.

Purchase a twin nursing pillow which is thicker, sturdier and can simultaneously hold two babies and bring them up to your breasts without you having to bend towards them. Don’t stick to one breast for one baby; continuously switch sides to avoid getting blocked ducts and not getting all the milk drained from your breast, as babies feed in different styles. Also when required wake your baby up to feed. For example if they are due for feeding every four hours, if one baby awakes feed him first, or wake one up first, then don’t hesitate to wake the second one afterwards to feed.

Try to avoid stress and strain as much as possible when dealing with twins, as it will benefit you and your children’s health and growth. To help you to avoid stress emotionally, psychologically and physically, join meditation and yoga classes. It will help rejuvenate your physical strength, emotional strength and positive energies.

To be fit to handle your twins, it is necessary for you to be fit. Thus it is necessary to take a healthy and nutritious diet to re-energize your body. Don’t miss out on your naps with your baby to help you remain fresh and alert.
