How to cope up with multiple children

If you thought being pregnant with multiples was hard, what about after giving birth. You would realize that it is just getting started. If you are new to the world of mothers or even if you are a mother of one, coping with multiples will be a totally new experience for you. The first step is to prevent yourself from getting stressed, as then you would not be able to see the fun hidden within the parenting years.

To help you cope with your handfuls, begin by sharing the work with your spouse. It is necessary that both parents understand that caring for multiples takes up a lot of energy, and that everyone can do with a helping hand.

When being a mother of two, there may come a time when you can’t take the crying anymore, and you will start feeling stressed when the crying continues and you can’t understand why. Don’t let this get to you. Remember crying is the only way for babies to communicate and express themselves. Take time out if required. If you cannot cope, don’t hesitate to get help from your doctor or counselor.

It is not only the babies who need a rest, as a mother of two or even more, you need as much rest as possible. Sleep with your babies when they nap, turn off your phone and other distractions and get a well deserved rest when the time permits.

Prioritize chores to be done. Minimize less important activities to be done less frequently and don’t worry about them. Make life easier for you by keeping necessary materials like baby wipes in every possible room or floor where they may be needed.

To be able to cope with your babies, you must first accept your babies as they are. Never compare to other children or even to each other. Remember that each baby is a unique individual. In the same line, don’t compare yourself to other mothers who you may see are not having a tough time as you, remember there babies may have a different routine, or maybe she has only one baby as yet. They have no idea as to how the situation is different for you. Just remember one thing, you have a bubbly pair of multiples. Rejoice.

And finally, don’t let guilt get to you. It is okay to feel exhausted, it does not mean you are a bad mother, or you have no cooperation from your family and friends. Take time out and you will return to your little gifts with revitalized energy. Take strength from within, when you get through a bad day or even an hour, praise yourself for your ability and feel proud. Remember you are a great mother who can cope with your babies by taking wise steps in the small things you do each day.
