An Interview with Dr. Shawn Rabizadeh on Root Canal
Dr. Shawn Rabizadeh is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Root Canal.
Q. What is root canal treatment?
A. RCT is an infection of the roots of a tooth. When the cavity penetrates internally to the center of the tooth it creates an infection of the pulp. When bacteria grows around the roots it caused pressure and pain.
Q. What does treatment involve?
A. RCT is the cleaning out of the pulp chamber of the tooth, shaping it with different size files, and fitting the same size filling material inside with root cement.
Q. What are the signs of needing endodontic treatment?
A. The signs and symptoms are pain to bite and heat.
Q. Are pain pills and antibiotics an acceptable substitute for root canal?
A. Although taking antibiotic may take the infection and pain away it is only temporary. The infection will return in a couple of months unless rct is performed.
Q. How much will the procedure cost?
A. The cost associated with a rct ranges between $450 to $950 depending on anterior tooth with one canal to a posterior tooth which has 3 or more canals.
Q. Will the tooth need any special care or additional treatment?
A. It is best to place a crown on a rct tooth to protect against fracture due to its brittleness. When a tooth is hallowed out and no longer has blood supply it loses its strength.
Q. How to contact Dr. Rabizadeh if we have further questions?
A.
