An Interview with Dr. Jeremy Fry on Braces

Dr. Jeremy Fry is an orthodontist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Braces.

Q. Can one be too old for braces?

A. You can never be too old to improve yourself or your smile!    We recommend that all children be seen for an orthodontic screening by age 7 but we have patients from age 7 to 70 in treatment!

Q. How much do braces cost?

A. Fees vary according to the complexity of each individual case.  We work hard to help our families comfortably manage the cost of providing orthodontic care for themselves or their children.

Q. When will one begin to see changes in his/her teeth after the braces are put on?

A. Immediately!  As soon as the braces are placed the teeth begin to move.  Many positive changes in the appearance of the teeth will be seen in the first few months of treatment.

Q. Will one need to have teeth extracted for braces?

A. It is rare for patients to have any permanent teeth removed for treatment at Fry Orthodontics.  The Doctors prefer a fuller smile that helps patients enjoy a more youthful appearance as they age.  Occasionally, a patient may need permanent teeth to be removed if the facial profile is too full.  More frequently, the Doctors may suggest the strategic removal of baby teeth to help guide the permanent teeth into a more pleasing position.

Q. How long will it take to complete the treatment?

A. At Fry Orthodontics most patients complete their treatment using the Clear or Metal braces in just 18 months.  Treatments can vary in length depending on the complexity of the orthodontic problem.  Before starting treatment you will be given an estimated completion date and that date will be updated at each of your visits.

Q. Can a person wear braces even though that person may have crowns and missing teeth?

A. Yes, we are able to treat patients who have crowns, missing teeth and teeth that have been built up with bonded materials.

Q. How can I prevent my child from being embarrassed by wearing braces?

A. Having a beautiful smile that you are proud of is important to patients of all ages.  Most young patients happily begin treatment and enjoy personalizing their braces with colored elastics.  They think wearing braces is cool!

Q. How to contact Dr. Fry if we have further questions?
