One of the best hobbies for a person is gathering herbs and flowers from the garden. This hobby could be very useful especially if you grow herbs with medicinal value that are often used in organic body care recipes.

Organic body care recipes use many different types of herbs, most of which could be grown in the garden itself. There is a rising demand for natural care especially since large numbers of individuals are now opting for natural, herbal ingredients instead of the artificial ingredients used in many body and skin care products. Natural ingredients are not only beneficial for health but they also do not bring about any harmful side effects. The very sense of the fact that there are herbs growing nearby could provide a benefit of its own.

Herb infused extra virgin olive oil is one of the best healing substances known. Readymade herbal infusions such as this one can be quite expensive. Instead it is cheaper to make it on your own using herbs from the garden. Natural body care recipes often incorporate herbs such as calendula, arnica, mullein, comfrey and mint, all of which have healing qualities. Other plants used include lavender and rose geranium. These flowers are used for their wonderful scent.

The herbs should be picked in the morning before the heat sets in. It should not be picked too early as this could lead to the leaves being picked before the dew on it dries. When making the infusion, too much moisture could ruin it by causing a milky emulsion to form in the oil.

To make herbal oil, a staple of organic body care recipes, just place the leaves in a jar of oil. Fill the jar with extra virgin olive oil making sure that the herbs are completely submerged below the oil. Make sure that all the air bubbles in the oil are removed. Close the jar all the way to make sure it is air tight and secure. Place this jar on a windowsill for 2 weeks. Shake this oil jar daily to spread out all the herbs. Strain the infusion through many layers of cloth into a new clean jar. Store the oil in a cool dark place. Before summer comes along, this oil could still be made by simmering the oil in a pot.

Massage oils can also be made using all these organic body care recipes. These oils could have various types of oil. Common ones used on the skin include lavender essential oil and beeswax, bruises, aches and pains could be treated by arnica infused oil. These massage oils could be very soothing and is a vital aspect of organic body care.
