Wheat Germ Oil (that’s high in Linoleic Acid) and Jojoba Oil reduce the trans-epidermal water loss providing the skin with suppleness and softness. Aromatherapy is a very popular aspect of organic beauty care. In fact, aromatherapy has been used in beauty care since ancient times, especially by Egyptians during Cleopatra’s period of ruling. It is widely accepted that Queen Cleopatra used aromatherapy frequently as part of her body care rituals. As you can see now, long before Gattefossé discovered the amazing healing properties of pure lavender oil, ancients have been using aromatherapy in their beauty care rituals.
Aromatherapy uses alternative medicine, popularly known as essential oils. Essential oils are basically liquid plant materials. These liquid plant materials together with other aromatic compounds from plants are used for the purpose of bringing about positive effects on the moods and health of individuals. These all-natural essential oil products are popularly used for massaging, medicine and various other topical applications that result in relaxation. Why aromatherapy is a major part of organic beauty care is because it uses all natural herbal material, which is the main property of organic beauty care.
Just like any other organic beauty care product, aromatherapy products too operate under a somewhat regulated system where oils that contain standardized content of compound, i.e. marked FCC (Food Chemical Codex) need to comprise of a specified percentage of aromatic chemicals that naturally occur in the oil. However, the addition of certain synthetic chemicals is legal as long as it is in order to meet the FCC criteria for that oil. A good example would be lemongrass essential oil. Under the FCC guideline, lemongrass oil should contain 75% aldehyde in order to match the FCC profile. However, aldehyde could possibly come from a chemical background instead of naturally from lemongrass. However if you’re a consumer who is very concerned about the organic element of your beauty care products, you could always choose only 100% organic products. The best way to differentiate adulterated essential oil from an all-natural one is a well trained nose. An experienced person can easily distinguish between the scents of natural and adulterated oils. Individuals who use genuine organic beauty care products will be able identify such products easily.
One might think that organic aromatherapy products might be very expensive since they’re all natural. But in reality the prices of these products vary depending on the country of origin, amount of harvest, how desirable the oil is (e.g. Indian Sandalwood is preferred over Australian Sandalwood) and the type of extraction used (e.g. enfleurage, steam distillation, CO2 extract). Apart from these facts, you can naturally expect a 100% natural aromatherapy product to be somewhat expensive compared to one that contains artificial ingredients. However, remember that there is no harm in paying a higher price for a product which will not create any side effects.
