| Dr. Craig L. Ziering is associated with the National Hair Society and the American Hair Loss Council. Here the Doctor has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Hair transplant.
Q. Do you provide free consultation?
A. Our consultations are complimentary, and we look forward to learning about our future patients’ goals for restoring a natural look to their hair. For individuals not living close to our offices, we’re available for phone and video consultations utilizing Skype.
Q. Does hair transplant look Natural?
A. Absolutely! With continued enhancements of my hair transplant techniques for men and women, there has never been a better time for a full, natural look for your hair. I consider hair restoration as much more than surgery – it’s an art. Hair plugs are a procedure of the past, as the industry has made way for microscopic follicular unit grafts and a full consideration for the patient’s head, face and bone structure. My Tricho Sculpture technique is a custom hair restoration procedure which combines the classical principles of art and the most advanced medical technology and surgical techniques to place microscopic grafts of one to four hairs each at the appropriate angle, orientation and direction so as to train the transplanted hair to re-grow in the same natural pattern. The result is a genuine, pleasing look that lends volume to the patient’s crown and frames the face in just the right places.
Q. How long does it take to recover from hair transplant surgery?
A. Most patients are back to work and to many of their normal activities within a few days of their hair restoration surgery. Upon leaving our facility after a procedure, our patients rest easy with a full list of recovery instructions, such as no heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for at least ten days, as well as detailed directions on how to care for your hair and scalp for the first few weeks.
Q. What are the types of hair transplants you perform?
A. In addition to innovative hair restorations for the scalp area for women and men, I perform facial hair transplants for eyebrow, sideburn, moustache, beard and temporal peak restorations – all with the same precision artistry that has made me a true leader in the field. The opportunity to also help patients camouflage scars from other cosmetic procedures, burns and trauma is another very rewarding aspect of hair transplants as seen by me.
Q. Are the options for combating Hair loss in men different from women?
A. Hair loss is a progressive disease caused by genes and hormones for both men and women. While each hair restoration treatment is unique to the patient and procedures can be performed successfully on both genders, women are unable to take the drug Propecia as a non-surgical solution for hair loss as a means to slow the hormone conversion to DHT.
Early intervention is key. There are many successful non-surgical treatments that help slow the process of hair loss such as laser therapy, both in-clinic and at-home, as well as several medications, topical treatments, and specially formulated hair products.
Q. Are there complications or risks in a hair transplant?
A. Unlike hair restorations in the past, today’s procedures are very safe and carry a low risk for complications, particularly when a patient follows their post-operative instructions to lessen the chance of infection. Aside from a rare allergic reaction to the anesthesia, most complications from hair restoration surgery are in the form of temporary swelling or numbness at the surgery site during the first few days, or ingrown hairs which may occur in the weeks that follow the hair transplant.
Q. If a client has already had a transplant with another doctor and is disappointed with the results, can it be redone?
A. Yes, in most situations unsatisfactory results and those from out-dated hair transplant technologies and surgical techniques can be improved through artistic redesigning at Ziering Medical. After a thorough evaluation of the remaining donor hair and overall appearance of the previous hair transplant, I will develop a customized treatment plan to achieve a more natural, aesthetically-pleasing result. |
