An Interview with Dr. Richard Restifo on Breast Augmentation.

Dr. Richard Restifo is a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Here the doctor has answered some common questions that Bizymoms visitors have about Breast Augmentation.

Q.  What type of anesthetic is used for breast augmentation surgery?

A.  Breast augmentation is typically performed under a brief, light general anesthetic.

Q.  What risks are associated with breast augmentation?

A.  The risks of breast augmentation are minimal. The anesthesia is very safe in a healthy woman. There are no known long term health risks associated with breast implants, although recently the FDA announced that there may be a "very small" risk of a rare form of Lymphoma. Surgical complications such as fluid buildup around the implant or scar tissue around the implant can occur but are uncommon.

Q.  What is the recovery time for breast augmentation?

A.  Recovery time following breast augmentation is about a week, although more strenuous activities such as working out should wait about a month.

Q.  How much does breast augmentation cost?

A.  Breast augmentation with saline typically costs about seven thousand dollars, including the facility and anaesthesia fees. Silicone gel implants are about $750 more due to the greater cost of the implants.

Q.  How to contact Dr. Restifo if we have further questions?
