| Nebraska is snugly located on the Great Plains of the Midwestern United States. The state shares borders with South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming. Nebraska takes its name from the Omaha Ní Btháska or archaic Otoe words Ñí Brásge meaning "flat water" denoting the Platte River. The state is a one of top ranching and farming states with a focus on pork, corn (maize), beef and soybeans. With the largest population of domesticated Llamas, Nebraska comprises of highly biodiverse prairie land. As far as time zones are concerned, Nebraska is divided among two time zones. While the eastern half works according to the Central Time Zone, the western half is in line with Mountain Time. One of the popular tourism slogans adopted by Nebraska includes, "Where the West Begins." To top it all off, Nebraska is a rare triply landlocked state" since the state itself does not lie beside the ocean, nor do the states which share borders, nor others that they border on! |
